One of the biggest worries if you’re planning a Brighton bandstand wedding…. is the weather! The bandstand is exposed on all sides to the sea and wind (and that drizzly sideways rain). But the sunshine gods were smiling down on Rachel and Matt on that day, as it was glorious hot sunshine and with not a cloud to be seen.
Their wedding also coincided with Brighton Gay Pride, meaning the whole centre of town was on shut down to traffic for the morning parade, which ran over schedule. So it was touch and go as to whether the roads would be open in time for the booked taxis to collect us from the Old Ship hotel… Or if we’d have to make our own way on foot (in high heels) to the bandstand, amongst the numerous spectators and drag queens! But with only minutes to spare the roads did open, and the taxi’s were thankfully able to arrive. Giving Rachel a few minutes for some quick photos with her bridesmaids and parents in front of the packed beach, before heading off to the ceremony. I love how some of the rainbow Pride flags made their way onto the Bandstand, much to the pleasure of the younger guests who proudly waved them.
You may remember how smiley Rachel and Matt were on their engagement shoot, and today was another level of smiles and laughs, not just from them but from all of their family and friends. Rachel’s excitement is clear to see as she turns to high-five Matt when the registrar announces “You are now husband and wife” and they have their first kiss!
I LOVE to capture laughter and moments when someone is completely unaware of me and they’re simply having a great time, and there was certainly no shortage of those images captured from this wonderful wedding! The best men speeches had everyone in stitches, myself included, and one of my favourite images of the day is the one below of Rachel with her head thrown back laughing along with her bridesmaids, at yet another brilliant and witty joke that Matt’s friends were fabulous at giving. Hands down some of the best speeches I’ve ever heard, and a truly happy and amazing day to have witnessed and captured. I hope the future continues to bring you both endless laughter!
