Located on the seafront with stunning views, the Brighton Grand Hotel was a gorgeous setting for the wedding of Sarah and Preslav. They currently live in Australia, so returning to one of their favourite cities in the UK for their wedding was all the more significant, as they gathered to spend rare quality time with their friends and family also. Presalv’s family live in Bulgaria, and for many it was their first time to Brighton, but with bright blue skies and sunshine all day long, the city didn’t disappoint!
The ceremony was held in The Chapel Royal in the city centre, which had high ceilings and lots of light (very different to your usual church!), and attracted a lot of attention from shoppers and passers by. As we walked to Brighton Pavillion for their group and family/friends photographs after the ceremony we were entertained by some steel drum buskers, and enjoyed the beautiful backdrop as we began taking photos. That was until we were interrupted by the Pavilion staff, who tried to stop us from photographing despite us being on a public footpath (from which countless tourists photograph the iconic building every day). It was highly unnecessary and it’s disappointing that some power hungry employees have now sullied Brighton’s reputation for being a welcoming city! However, a persuasive bridesmaid soon calmed the situation, gaining us about 10 minutes until they came back to try and moved us on again. Tut tut Brighton Pavillion….
Still, everyone remained in high spirits as they hopped onto the private bus to The Grand for the reception drinks, whilst Sarah, Pres and myself headed to Hove beach huts and the seafront for their portrait photos. I’ve lived in the city for just over 4 years now, and I will never tire of the views from the seafront.
As I sit here now on a dark January night, I cannot wait for the return of long summer nights when Brighton wakes from winter hibernation… As for Sarah and Preslav, it’s currently their summer on the other side of the world, so I’m sure they’re enjoying drinks on the beach and BBQ’s instead!
