Bryony & Paul | Boat Wedding HMS Warrior Portsmouth

I love alternative wedding venues, and they don’t come much more alternative than Bryony and Paul’s wedding on the HMS Warrior in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. The HMS Warrior dates back to 1860 so it’s full of history and atmosphere, and Bryony grew up in Portsmouth, so it was a clear winner for her when she started looking for her wedding venue. Paul’s parents are Jamaican so the wedding colours were yellow and green, they also had a fabulous steel pan band playing after the ceremony to get everyone into the party mood. We then waited in the dock for the arrival of their reception party boat, the Princess Caroline, where the guests were greeted with a rum cocktails and rum favours!

The party boat then set sail around the harbour for the wedding breakfast and speeches. My favourite part of the speeches was the revealing of a childhood photo of Paul and his twin brother (sporting great afros) much to their surprise and embarrassment, and everyone else’s delight! The boat then docked again to picked up the evening guests, and as the band started playing and the casino tables were brought out the sun began to set. As I stood on the harbour watching it sail away into the night I could hear the music and laughter, and was waved away by a very happy bride and her guests…
