I recently wrote here about my love of being a family photographer in Brighton. The blog focused on birth photography, which is a new venture for me and one I plan to grow in 2019.
Todays shoot was with the very soon-to-be mum of two Tori, and her delightful toddler daughter. The weather was bright but freezing, but we decided to brave the cold and head to their local beach in Worthing anyway, as the beach is such a calm and stunning back drop, but also fun for little kids who can collect shells and chase seagulls.
I think an outdoor and natural light family shoot gives a much more relaxed look to the photos, rather than studio photography which can be much more of an awkward set up for children (and adults!).
Tori had asked in advance if we could have two locations for her shoot, the second being in a bath of milk and flowers, which would show of her wonderful bump in a not-too-nude and tasteful way. What a great idea!
A milk bath was a first for both of us, but after a few tests shots to get the positioning righting (trying to hide the taps and tiles.. and nipples!), the images were just beautiful. She looked so relaxed and it was great fun for us all, especially her daughter who kept launching rubber ducks into the bath and wanted to climb in too!
So that was exactly what happened, and these are in fact my favourite images. The way Juno tenderly stroked her mums face, and picked flowers from the water for her to smell, was so touching and sweet.
If you’re looking for a family photographer in Brighton I’d love to hear from you! A mini shoot of 45 minutes is only £99, and you’ll receive an online password protected gallery from which you can download and share the images with family and friends.
